DESCRIPTION:

 

The course will introduce fly fishing to those interested in this type of fishing or searching for a new hobby. This course will be conducted at Kranji Dam. You will spend a few hours at the dam with the instructor, who will teach you all the basics you need to know to get started with fly fishing.

 

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

- Understand the theory of the fly cast

- Know what pieces of equipment are used in a fly fishing setup

- Assemble the fly fishing gear correctly

- Cast and retrieve a fly

- Determine what fly fishing setup is right for you

- Be familiar with the most used fly fishing knots

 

PRE-COURSE EXPERIENCE:

 

No experience required but we do recommend that you do not have any injuries or issues with shoulder, arms or wrists and no phobia of standing near water.

 

INSTRUCTOR TO NUMBER OF STUDENTS:

Minimum 3 students are required for the course to be conducted. Groups and individuals will be combined to form a class.

 

AGE:

 

All ages from 16 years old and above.

 

COURSE INCLUDES:

 

- Guidance from our friendly instructor

- Basic fly fishing information sheet

- MFFA certificate upon completion of course

 

FISHING EQUIPMENT:

Fishing equipment is provided free of charge to all students of the fishing academy. Depending on the number of students signed up for the class, two students may need to share a set of flying fishing rod and reel.

 

A $50 deposit will be collected on the day of the course to cover for any damages to the setup and the deposit will be returned at the end of the course.

 

ATTIRE:

 

Please wear comfortable clothing as you will be out in nature all day.

 

Theory lessons are conducted under shelter. You will expect to be seated on the ground during the course. Shorts or pants are recommended.

 

DON'T FORGET TO BRING:

 

- Drinking water

- Sun block

- Sunglasses (preferrably polarized)

- Hat or cap

- Raincoat (in case of rain)
